Trip overview

Let's start our journey to the beautiful capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu famous for its rich culture,sculptures, art,historical heritages, temples and religious sites. The tour will provide you with a chance to explore the modern Kathmandu city as well as the old historical Kathmandu. From the busy streets to the peaceful temples, surrounding you will have an experience like never before.

Situated at the foothills of the himalayas you can get the views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal from here. The trip will take you on an exploration journey of the major cultural heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley such as Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas,pharping which is a town that indulges in Newari culture and Nagarkot famous for its panoramic views of the himalayas.

The sightseeing starts from Kathmandu Durbar Square famous palace where the Malla kings of ancient Kathmandu used to live and rule the city. Next is the famous Buddhist site Swayambhunath also called Samhengu and the monkey temple as you can capture lots of monkeys roaming and living around the stupa. The place is also known for its panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley you can get from the stupa.

Next is the famous Hindu site Pashupatinath dedicated to the lord Shiva which is also one of the oldest Hindu temples of Kathmandu.

From here we head towards Pharping, a Newari heritage town where you can dive and learn about the Newari culture, and customs.

After Pharping you head to the Patan Durbar Square famous for its architectural monuments. next you explore the Buddhist site Boudhanath stupa, Changunarayan temple dedicated to lord Vishnu and then to Nagarkot where you will get to see the mesmerising view of the sunrise.

Towards the end of your tour, you will visit the Bhaktapur Durbar Square where you can encounter collections of pagodas and shikhara-style temples.

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu

The exploration begins after you arrive in Kathmandu where our Representatives from Red Rose Travels will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. From here our team will drive you to a 3-star rated hotel in Kathmandu where you will be resting overnight.

Day 2 : Guided sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley

Today we will be visiting some of the world heritage sites of Nepal, we will visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square which is a union of palaces, courtyards and temples built in the 12th and 18th centuries. Malla kings of Kathmandu were once crowned here and used to rule from this palace. The Durbar is also known as the Museum of Temples, consisting of more than 50 temples around the Durbar. You can see a stone with writing from the 17th century written in 15 different languages in the Durbar. Three museums are also inside the palace preserving the gears of the Malla kings.

From the durbar we head to Swayambhunath which is one of the holiest Buddhist sites of Nepal. The stupa is also called Samhengu and Monkey Temple because you can find tons of monkeys roaming and living around the stupa. A clear view of Kathmandu valley

can be seen from the stupa as it is located at a height on the western side.

Next, we head to the Pashupatinath temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal. The temple is dedicated to the lord shiva. Made in pagoda style the temple consists of many shrines of many deities. You cannot enter the temple as it is only for Hindus but you can see the rituals being performed in the Bagmati river flowing beside the temple.

Day 3 : Guided sightseeing in Pharping and Patan Durbar Square

Today we head to Pharping first, which is 19 km away from the main Kathmandu city. Pharping is a small Newar town situated above the Bagmati river on the southern edge of the valley. It was also called Shikharapuri Mahanagari in old times. Pharping is famous for its religious and historical sites and buildings. Guru Rinpoche, the introducer or Buddha in Tibetan, is believed to have meditated at a cave situated on the outskirts of the town.

From Pharping, we head to Dakshinkali Temple, which is located 22 km away from Kathmandu and 1 km away from Pharping. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali, a famous form of Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva. You can capture the main deity sculpture in the temple built with black stone, a six-armed form of Kali standing tall. It is believed that Kali appeared in the dream of a Malla king, which is why he built the temple devoted to the goddess. You can also encounter sacrifices being made on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

Next, we explore the Patan Durbar Square, which is made up of palace buildings, courtyards, and pagoda temples. You can also visit a museum preserving the bronze statues and religious objects of the King's era. A temple made completely of stone dedicated to Lord Krishna is a famous monument on this site.

Day 4 : Exploring Boudhanath stupa, Changu Narayan temple and drive to Nagarkot hill station

Today we will be visiting Boudhanath Stupa first which is only 6 km east of downtown Kathmandu. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal. It is 36 meters high and has a beautiful stupa design. You can find Buddhist pilgrims praying around the stupa. It is also called Khasti as it is believed to be made by mixing dew drops with mortar because of the water drought during that time in Kathmandu.

Next, we head to Changu Narayan temple situated on a ridge from where we can get a beautiful view of the Kathmandu valley. Changu Narayan temple is dedicated to the lord Vishnu and is made in pagoda architecture. You can see unique sculptures and carvings around the temple made in 323 AD by King Hari Dutta Verma.

After the sightseeing we head to Nagarkot in a private tourist vehicle covering 35 km from Kathmandu, Nagarkot is famous for its marvellous views of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges and the sun rising over them. You will be staying in a hotel overnight at Nagarkot.

Day 5 : Sunrise at Nagarkot and guided sightseeing around the Bhaktapur Durbar square

Today we wake up early in the morning so that we can encounter the sun rising over the chain of the snow-capped Himalayas. The golden rays of the sun hitting the white snow of the mountains are one of the best views you will ever see.

From Nagarkot, we conclude our journey after returning to the Kathmandu valley and visiting the Bhaktapur Durbar square. Here you will get to see the collection of pagoda and shikhara-style temples around a 55-window palace made up of brick and wood. The Golden Gate, lion gate, statue of King Bhupendra Malla, and Palace of 55 windows are the main attractions in Bhaktapur. After the sightseeing a farewell dinner will be organized for you from Red Rose Travels in a fine Nepali restaurant.

Day 6 : Departure

Today your unforgettable 6 days journey comes to an end. Red Rose travel representative will ensure you are safely transferred back to the airport. We hope the memories of the trip will stay with you forever.
