Today you will be heading towards different destinations with an experienced guide in a comfortable private tourist vehicle.
The Kathmandu Durbar Square, also called Hanuman Dhoka is a UNESCO world heritage site which was built during the Licchavi period, which spans between the 4th and 8th centuries AD. Later, different kings expanded the palace such as King Pratap Malla, who added several temples and new buildings in the square. Part of the palace has been converted into a museum dedicated to the Shah kings of Nepal. During this trip, you will see Taleju Temple, Kumari Temple, Jagannath Nasal Chowk Temple, Swet Bhairav, Tribhuvan Museum and the famous stone statue of Kal Bhairav. You can also find souvenirs for your family and friends at the shop located near the entrance gate.
Now, we will head towards Swayambhunath Stupa. The word Swayambhu means "self-existent". According to an inscription dating back to 460 AD, King Mandeva built the stupa. It is also called the "Monkey Temple" as there are many monkeys around the temple area and they are considered sacred. You will be able to see a panoramic view of the city from the top of the hill with Buddhist and Hindu temples and stupas.
Now we will be exploring Patan city which is an old Newar city where we can dive into the Newari culture.Patan city is famous for the Durbar Square,Golden Gate,the sky-piercing temple of Taleju and the statue of Yogendra Malla, Krishna mandir,Sati temple,Hiranya varna Mahabir temple and Mahaboudha.We will be exploring all these sites where you can see the architectural style of old Nepal such as old carved wooden windows,shops and markets.
After Patan we head to the famous Hindu sacred temple,The Pashupatinath temple which is made in pagoda style where people worship Lord Shiva.You can capture hundreds of Shiva lingams around the temple and 500 smaller shrines of various Hindu gods.The devotees can be seen doing rituals in the holy Bagmati river flowing beside the holy temple.You cannot enter the temple as it is strictly only for Hindus but you can enjoy the peaceful vibe flowing through the area.
The last destination we visit is the Boudhanath stupa which is one of the largest stupas in the world and is also a UNESCO world heritage site. It is famous for its architecture having four pairs of lord Buddha's eyes in four directions which is believed to have a watch over the people of the city. You can also encounter Buddhist pilgrims moving around the stupas offering their prayers as they spin the prayer wheels that surround the stupa.
After the expedition, you will be transferred back to the hotel and later you will have a farewell dinner organized for you by Red Rose Travels.
