Trip Summary of Shivapuri-Chisapani Trek
The Shivapuri-Chisapani Trek is a short and sweet adventure, perfect for those seeking a quick escape from the city. Located close to Kathmandu, the trek offers amazing views without requiring a significant amount of effort. Imagine walking through thick forests filled with colourful rhododendrons, especially beautiful in spring. As you climb higher, the mighty Himalayas unfold before you, with peaks like Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lakpa standing tall. Look out for the unique species that live in this park, such as deer and playful monkeys.
The trek starts with a scenic drive to a charming village called Dada Gaun, located at the edge of Shivapuri National Park. This park is known for its diverse plants and animals, making it a great place to explore nature. Famous for its close proximity and refreshing water sources, Shivapuri-Chisapani provides you with its cultural richness, adventurous but smooth trails, and fresh, cold forests.
Traversing through the Shivapuri National Park, lying entirely within the middle mountain range of central Nepal and home to 177 species of birds, 19 species of mammals, and 150 species of butterflies, provides glimpses of biodiversity and wildlife viewing, whereas after reaching Chisapani, you will get to see the unobstructed view of the sunrise and sunset rising and setting over the Giant Mountains.
The journey to this adventurous trek begins after you step into Kathmandu, joining our Red Rose team, from where we head towards Dada Gaun early in the morning, accompanied by our experienced guide. Dada Gaun is a mountainous village with a large indigenous community where you will find the rare deep roots of the Nepali culture.
Continuing your trek from Dada Gaun, the trail will take you to Chisopani in about 8 to 9 hours, where you will get to embrace the best viewpoint of the trek, offering a breathtaking view of the Himalayan range and giving you a clear view of the sunrise and sunset. After Chisopani, you will descend back to Sundarijal, where the waterfalls and streams provide you with a chill experience while traversing in the forest. Named after the Hindu god Sundari Mai, a temple is dedicated to the deity in Sundarijal.
