Mera peak climbing and trek across Minglo La pass is one of the lifetime adventurous activities in Nepali Himalayas. This peak climb will take you to the crest of Mera peak- Nepal highest peak to be ascended by trekking. Mera Peak lies in an altitude of 6476 m, in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas. The trek can be dangerous while crossing over Mingbo La as the path goes dangerous.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu [1,300m/4,264ft]

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International airport and completing custom formalities of airport and at the terminal gate you will spot our representative and our staff carrying a signboard of Redrose Travel and they will welcome you and take you to the hotel. You can spend your day relaxing at the hotel. In evening the Redrose Travel will be hosting a welcome dinner in excellent Nepali restaurants which serves you delectable Nepali cuisine. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu: trip preparation

Today we will be preparing for our trip as well as visit the Redrose Travel office and our climbing expert will be arranging the climbing equipment’s and look properly all the equipment and make sure all the gears are in good condition. We will be also introducing you to other fellow participants who will be joining along with you and then we will have a small discussion part of the trip as well as you will be meeting your trek or climbing leader/ guide. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly towards Lukla, trek towards Paiya (Chutok) [2,730m/8,956ft]: 40 mins flight, 5-6 hours trek

Today early we will catch a flight to Lukla and then we will begin our trek towards Paiya. We will be trekking on the jungle path and then we will be crossing the bridge above Handi Khola and then we will arrive at Surke village. After that we will continue our trek heading to south direction and then we will be crossing the Chutok la pass and then we will reach at tiny settlements of Paiyan which is also called as Chutok. We will spend our night in Paiya.

Day 04: Paiya toward Panggom [2,846m/9,337ft]: 5-6 hrs.

We will be descending further and then arrives at small bridge and from here our path is slippery unless we don’t cross the Kari La Pass. After that we will continue our trek via bamboo and rhododendron forests. Continuing trekking we will reach at Panggom village where the people mostly depend on trading and farming. We will spend our night in Panggom.

Day 05: Panggom toward Ningsow [2,863m/9,393ft]: 4-5 hrs.

After breakfast we will began our trekking where we will be leaving Panggom and cross Pangom La Pass. After that we will climb trek on steady trail and turn to north side direction. We will then cross the Peseng Kharka Khola and then walk for a while to reach at Peeng Kharka Danda. After that we will cross the Ningsow Khola – streams and then we will arrive at Ningsow village. We will be spending our night Ningsow.

Day 06: Ningsow toward Chhatra Khola [2,800m/9,186ft]: 7-8 hrs.

Today we will began our day with ascend and descending for a while and ascend further towards to reach at Ramailo Danda and from here one will get captivating view of Mera peak and Salpa. With few ascend and descend we will enter to Makalu Barun National Park. From here our path towards Chhatra khola is known as Pasang Lhamu path and on the way if we are lucky enough we might get to spot rare red panda. We will spend our night in Chhatra Khola.

Day 07: Chhatra Khola towards Kothe [3,691m/12,109ft]: 6-7 hrs.

Today we will be walking to north on the leading path towards Mera peak. With few hours of walking on the path alongside the Maiang Khola- River, we amalgamate another path which heads along Hinku Khola. After that we will head straight to Tashing Ongma with several teashops. Continuing trekking further and crossing the bridge above Sanu Khola we will arrive at Kothe. We will spend our night in Kothe.

Day 08:  Kothe towards Thaknak [4,358m/14,297ft]: 3-4 hrs.

Today we will be trekking alongside the ridge of Hinku Khola with the reflection of Mera peak. We will stop for a lunch at Gondishung which is the summer herder settlement which is situated at the west bank of Hinku Drangka. From here we will be passing a 200 years old – Lungsumgba Gomba. Continuing walking will leads us towards Thaknak- a summer grazing region with simple local shops and lodges. We will spend our night in Thanknak.

Day 09: Thaknak toward Khare [5,045m/16,486ft]: 2-3 hrs.

Today we will be leaving Thaknak and follow the crosswise moraine of Dig glacier towards Dig Kharka which rewards with breathtaking view of Charpate Himal.  The path then ascends via moraine towards the muzzle of Hinku Nup and Shar Glacier and then we will ascend steeply towards Khara. From Khare we will get astonish view of north face of Mera peak then we will have our lunch. After lunch we can hike nearby Khare and explore the area. We will spend our night in Khare.

Day 10: Khare: Acclimatization and pre climbing training

Today is the day for acclimatization, we will spend our day acclimatizing the altitude as well as do some training for peak climbing.  Our climbing expert will be giving you a training like how to use the climbing equipment’s such as how to use ice axe, crampons, climbing boots and also include technique of using the climbing rope. We will spend our night in Khare.

Day 11: Khare toward Mera High Camp [5,780m/18,958ft]: 6-7 hrs.

Today we will be walking via boulder on steep path that leads us to Mera Peak base camp. We will then reach at Mera peak base camp and continuing trekking via Mera La Pass we will reach at Mera peak high camp.  Continuing trekking through rocky path which will be quite challenging. We will set up our camp at Mera high camp as well as enjoying the great view of Everest, Cho Oyu, Baruntse, Lhotse, Nuptse and Makalu. We will spend our night in Mera High camp.

Day 12: Mera High Camp towards Summit [6,461m/21,1907ft] and back to Khare [5045m/16,547ft]: 8-9 hrs.

Today is the day of our actual journey to the summit of Mera Peak climbing where we will wake up early morning after a light breakfast as our beginning of our today journey will be bit cold but our body will warm up reaching up to the glacier. The stunning rays of sun reflecting in huge peak is astonish to view. The trail is not so technical but we will slowly ascend high into a thin air and with lots of effort we will overcome the summit and reaching at the top of the summit we will get breathtaking view of mighty mountain Everest, Makalu, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Cho Oyu, Baruntse and many more. After spending some time in the summit we will retrace back to high camp and then to Khare. We will spend our night n Kharea.

Day 13: Reserve Day for Contingency

This day is kept for such unforeseen situation that might occur like bad weather on plan day of our summit and if incase if one is not able to summit the peak on plan day then this day can be used for such kind of situation but if our journey goes well smoothly in planned schedule so, this day is not required.

Day 14: Khare toward Kothe [3600m/11808ft]: 4-5 hrs.

Today we will be trekking from Khare towards Kothe on same trail and reaching at Kothe we will celebrate for successfully completing the peak expedition, we will be celebrating with local wines and local cuisine. We will spend our night in Kothe.

Day 15: Kothe towards Thuli Kharka [4,300 m/14,107ft]: 5-6 hrs.

Today after breakfast we will trek towards Thuli Kharka and then we will be ascending and descending for a while and then we will be crossing the Inkhu Khola and then we will reach at the path close by Taktho. We will be trekking on the right side direction on steep path. After that we will climb towards Thuli Kharka and then we will pass several chorten and then we will trek downhill on steep trail. After that we will climb towards Thuli Kharka and again we will pass some chorten. We will spend our night in Thuli Kharka.

 Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.


Day 16: Thuli Kharla toward Lukla via Zatrwa La pass: 6-7 hours

We will be crossing the Zatrwa La pass which is at the 4600 meter and after crossing the pass we will be welcomed by exquisite Lukla valley which is bounded by Cho Oyu, Numbur Himal, Kongde, Kusum Khangru and other several peaks. From here we will be walking all the way towards Chutang and straightly head to Lukla village. In evening we will enjoy our dinner with other crew in Himalayas of Nepal. We will spend our night in Lukla.

Day 17: Fly towards Kathmandu

Today early morning we will take a flight towards Kathmandu. Reaching at Kathmandu you will drive to hotel and then you can rest and refreshed up. If you want to visit some of the heritage sites we can do it today or you can even do souvenir shopping where our guide will be helping you. In evening the Redrose Travel will be hosting a farewell dinner as well as also celebrate for successfully completing the Mera peak climbing. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Final departure

Today our adventurous journey to Mera Peak climbing comes to an end and one our representative from Redrose Travel will be dropping you at the airport three hours earlier than your flight schedule.

Essential Info

Hotel and Lodge:

Redrose Travel arranges the best comfy and pleasant accommodation and provides you the well-nourished hygienic foods. Throughout your stay in Kathmandu i.e. 3 nights you will be staying at the best standard hotel which will be rating at 2- 3-star hotel. Although if you want to stay at 4- 5-star hotel in the well sumptuous hotel and are able to pay for this expenses then you have this kind of choices but for the luxurious hotel the payment should be deposited by the clients itself. As the Redrose Travel company can only afford the hotel which is the rate at 2-3 star hotels. However once you are set for your trek there will be no such facilities like in the city of Kathmandu and one should not expect like Kathmandu as we are trekking to the remote area so, we will be staying at tea houses and local lodges. In such hotel there will be a usual bed and of course pillow. Most of the lodges of this region depend on lanterns or candle only a few has the facility of electric lights nonetheless you will be getting clean hygienic food which is most important. Most of the lodges will be already booked earlier before your trek however in some situation we will be not able to book in advance but not to worry we can book -in while reaching there because there are ample of lodges and some tea houses in this region and if not we can easily set a camp which will the most adventurous part of the trek itself is interesting and adventurous. We have to stay a night in the camp or tent as we build when we are in such are and we are in camping or tented house

Meals and Drinks:

We the company totally focuses on client’s meals by making sure that each and every client get the same portion which is clean hygienic and nourished which is most necessary while trekking. While trekking all the meals i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided but in the Kathmandu city sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner are included where you can go through the each detail itinerary below. During trek breakfast and dinner will be served in the lodges or teahouses and for the lunch our expert trek leader or guide will be taking you the best clean hotels. However we suggest you carry a water purification tablets to purify the water as on the way you will get normal water but if you want bottled mineral water you will easily get in some shops or tea houses but the expense of the bottled water should be paid by the client itself as it is not included in package.

Best Season to Travel:

The flawless seasons for Nepal visit will be in the spring season in the month of March to May and autumn season on September and November. Even in winter one can travel but only if you can bear the cold weather season. We strongly recommended the clients not to trek on the monsoon season on the month of June, July and August because during this period it rains heavenly and in day afternoon the sun rays will be extremely blazing heat so, it will be difficult to trek. So, we suggest every client trek in the specific seasons.

Luggage/Backpack:

Throughout your trekking your luggage will be carried by our porters and you have to carry your own small baggage containing your own water bottle, towel, tissue or toilet paper, camera or any other stuff which you usually carry and this small baggage should be carried by yourself. Some of the gears and clothes which are not needed during your trek can be left in the hotel safe deposit box carefully locking it properly and for the deposit there will be no charges so, you can freely keep your belongings which are not needed. The Nepal domestic airlines do not exceed more than 15 kg which also includes your hand baggage. If your baggage exceeds more than 15 kg then some charge should be deposit which is not included in the package.  

Guide/Porter on Trek:

We the companyRedrose Travel will be providing you the well expert trained trekking guide who will be handling all your trip issue. Also we will be providing you a cordial and sincere porter who will be carrying your 10 kg luggage of each client. Like if you are trekking in a huge group like more than 10 people than we will be providing you an extra guide which will be divided into two groups or more than three according to the number of people in the group. 

Group Size, Guide and Crew Member:

Redrose Travel arranges trek with the minimum solitary client to maximum 16 clients in a group. In the larger group we will be arranged by dividing the groups. However one can stay in the same lodge but during your trek you will be having a different guide. We the Redrose Travel offers one guide for maximum 10 people in the group and if the number exceeds more than 10 till 16 then we will be providing you 2 guides. 

Personal Expenses on Trek:

Your personal expenses should be deposited by yourself like if you addicted to alcohol and all the alcohol you consume during your trip should be paid by yourself that goes to snacks or any other additional meals. Though the cost of accommodation and meals are included in package but such additional meals and drinks- alcohol and non-alcohol beverage, snacks, tips for guide and porters, hot shower- accessible only in some hotel, entrance fee around $ 25 for visiting heritage sites of Kathmandu, meals while you are in Kathmandu and the normal meals will cost around $ 5-7. It is up to you whether you like to give tips to the guide and porter, if you are satisfied with their services then you can tip them.

Gears Available in Kathmandu:

For the trekking equipment you can easily get it at Nepal country stores at the reasonable price and if you like you can also rent the trekking equipment. You don’t have to carry or buy from your hometown because all the trekking gear can be easily available in this country –Nepal.  

A Typical Day on Trek:

On a customary day you are necessary to trek for 4-6 hours each day. After breakfast we will start to walk and then we will be stopping for a lunch and after lunch we will walk for 3-4 hours to reach our destination. After lunch we will be trekking only for few hours and we will reach our trekking destination in 1—2 hours. Like in some days you will reach your destination in afternoon hours and then you can have lunch and then relax, or take shower, read a novel or wander around the area and even you can play cards with the group, guide and all.

Our Greetings at Airport:

We suggest you that when you are confirmed for this trip we advise you to give us your international flight schedule so, we the team can easily get to you and pick you up from the airport on time. As soon as you finish processing the customs formalities and come out from there and there you can find our representative carrying a signboard of Redrose Travel and the team will greet you and take you to the hotel in private vehicle. Like if you have already booked the hotel by your own then we advise informing the hotel that you are staying so it will be easy for our representative to drop you at the hotel.

Itinerary and Possible Changes on it:

Our usual itinerary of the trek is 18 days which is main customary and pragmatic. In this 18 days itinerary it has also included your arrival day, departure day or Kathmandu sightseeing day tour are all included in this package itinerary. If you like to adjust the itinerary we can set it for you as per your desire so, before that let us know before booking the trip and then we will arrange the itinerary and the cost. Like if you like to extend more days then we will even manage it for you as in our package we have kept extra day because we don’t know the situation of Himalaya weather it suddenly changes and faces problems like delayed flights or cancellation of flight.

Insurance/Rescue/Evacuation:

Client’s safety is our main priority and makes sure that each and every client is well taken care of.  If by chance anyone got sick during trek we will take you to the hospital and if one is seriously ill then we will rescue a helicopter and then they will take you to the hospital and all the expenses are carried out by the travel insurance company so, make sure to cover the insurance policy. Booking and Payment:

For booking any trip, trek, expedition first you have to deposit 20% in advance if you are confirmed for the trek you have to send even your flight detail schedule, a passport photocopy and if you cancel the booking then this 20% is not -refundable.  The remaining 80% can be paid when you reach Kathmandu and if you want to pay in advance you can deposit it by transferring through a bank, credit card so, lets us know then we will be sending you the detail for payment.
